Paul Rose was educated at the University of Auckland New Zealand, graduating in Optometry in 1967 and again in 1969 with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Mathematics. In 1998 he was elected as an inaugural fellow of the New Zealand Society of Contact Lens Practitioners (NZSCLP) and served on the council for a period of 10 years including a term as President. Paul was awarded an honorary Fellowship of the CCLSNZ in 2003 and honorary life membership in 2011. Paul was also named as the first-ever recipient of the British Contact Lens Association (BCLA) Industry Award in 2014 recognising the entrepreneurial work being carried out by individuals in contact lens science, research and technology. In 2017, he was appointed as a Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit in recognition of his contributions to the field of Ophthalmology and Optometry.
Paul is the designer of the ROSE K family of lenses for the irregular cornea. The ROSE K family of lenses are now fitted in over 90 countries and the ROSE K brand is currently one of the most prescribed brands for the irregular cornea in the world. Paul retired from active practice in 2011 after specializing in rigid contact lenses for the irregular cornea for over 40 years, however Paul continues to do research, advises on fits and develops new ROSE K products today.
Dr. Choo obtained her BSc from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada, her OD from Pacific University in Portland, USA and her PhD from the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia. She has been involved with specialty lenses her entire career having worked in Corneal Implant, Orthokeratology and Myopia Control research at the Brien Holden Vision Institute (BHVI) in Sydney, Australia.
In 2011, she joined Menicon Co. Ltd and currently serves as Global Director for Menicon’s Specialty Lens Division. She has presented extensively overseas and is a recipient of several research awards including the prestigious American Academy of Optometry William C. Ezell Fellowship. Dr. Choo is also an Adjunct Professor of Optometry at Pacific University as well as a past Advisory Board Member for the Pennsylvania College of Optometry.
Dr. Flores currently also runs her own specialty lens clinic in Valparaíso, Chile specializing in complex contact lens fits for diseases of the ocular surface. She is a Fellow of the Scleral Lens Education Society, member of IACLE, Board member for GLOW (Global Ophthalmic Women) and a Board member for the Latin American Academy of Orthokeratology and Myopia Control (ALOCM). She is an accomplished researcher and educator having lectured extensively in Latin America and around the world.
Josie is a qualified Dispensing and Contact Lens Optician. She has been in Optics for over 30 years and has worked in both Independent and Multiple Practice. For the last 20 years she has worked for contact lens manufacturers and has developed and delivered CET/CPD, training, and other lectures and workshops on a wide range of subjects covering contact lens corrections both generic and product specific. She specialises in complex lens fitting and advising peers in this area.
Josie has conducted lectures/training to Optometrists, CLOs, DOs and practice team members at various industry meetings and events and facilitated CET accredited workshops for optometric groups at industry meetings and at manufacturer facilities and is a former council member of the BCLA. Working for Menicon Ltd Josie is involved in product training both theoretical and practical on all Menicon devices, she is involved in product development and works closely with education providers training the next generation of eye care practitioners, as well as assisting in regulatory and R&D projects.
Michaël Guez is an experienced optometrist and has specialized in advanced contact lens fittings his entire career. He joined Menicon in 1999 and currently serves as the Scientific and Training Director at Menicon in Paris, France. Michaël previously developed and managed the French Professional Services Team to provide extensive education, training and technical assistance for all types of contact lens fits to professionals across France and the EMEA. His knowledge and experience helped him lead the development of campusmenicon, a comprehensive Contact Lens Training Centre for French eye care professionals. Michaël continues to stay on the cutting edge of contact lenses and is a well-respected educator who has lectured at numerous international congresses and meetings.
Norma Cárdenas joined Menicon in 2020 and currently serves as a Professional Educator for Menicon in Latin America. She is based in Bogota, Colombia and trained as an optometrist specializing in the Anterior Segment and Contact Lenses at the Universidad Santo Tomás de Bucaramanga, Colombia. Norma also obtained her Masters in Advanced Contact Lens Adaptations from the University of Valencia, Spain.
Norma has more than 15 years of experience fitting the irregular cornea and is passionate about contact lens education. She is a fellow of IACLE and she is also a Professor in the area of specialised contact lenses and special exams at the Universidad Santo Tomás. Norma currently also has her own specialty lens practice in Bogota where she helps patients directly with advanced lens fits.
Jess Ooi is an optometrist who graduated from the National Institute of Ophthalmic Sciences (NIOS) in 2012 and currently works in Menicon as Regional Professional Affair Manager.
With 10 years of experience in optometry spanning clinical and corporate environments in Malaysia, she initially joined Vista Eye Specialist in 2012 as a clinical optometrist. Here, she honed her skills in primary eye care, including pediatric eye care. Transitioning to Oculus in 2016, Jess assumed the role of a professional service specialist, focusing on gas permeable (GP) contact lens fitting consultations and technical support, which included orthokeratology and Rose K2 lens fitting. She also excelled as a product trainer, delivering seminars, workshops, and lectures to universities.
In Menicon, Jess oversees the Southeast Asian market, delivering training to eye care practitioners and providing assistance in case troubleshooting.
Dr. Gil-Cazorla completed her Degree in Optics and Optometry at the University Complutense of Madrid in Spain, followed by a MSc Clinical Optometry and Research in Optometry from the European University of Madrid (Spain), a MSc in Clinical Optometry (from Pennsylvania College of Optometry (USA) and a PhD from the University Complutense of Madrid (Spain) looking at refractive eye surgery. She is also an independent prescriber.
Dr Gil-Cazorla is full time lecturer at Aston University (UK), and an active member of the Optometry and Vision Science Research group (OVSRG). Her work focuses on dry eye disease, the use of UVC treatment for corneal infections, the development of new ocular drug delivery systems, and the evaluation of visual performance and ocular anatomy changes associated with novel anterior eye devices such as contact lenses and intraocular lenses. She also has an extensive clinical experience in contact lenses, with a particular interest in their medical use.
Dr. Amanda Nur Shinta Pertiwi, a subspecialist ophthalmologist at the Ophthalmology Department of Gadjah Mada University and Dr. Sardjito General Hospital in Yogyakarta, is a dedicated clinical educator with expertise in refraction, contact lens fitting, and low vision care. With a passion for advancing eye care, Dr. Pertiwi is committed to staying at the forefront of the latest developments in ophthalmology, particularly in the areas of myopia control, refractive surgeries, and contact lens use. As an educator, she strives to enhance clinical knowledge and patient outcomes, while also raising awareness about the importance of proper eye care practices and innovative solutions for those with low vision.
Aneel Suri is currently Principal Contact Lens Optometrist and Principal Cornea & External Disease Optometrist at Moorfields Eye Hospital. He has almost 20 years experience in all aspects of medical lenses and currently leads in both the corneal and scleral lens clinics. He brings 15 years experience in management of corneal disease within the external disease service. Post graduate qualifications include independent prescribing and masters in clinical optometry. He is actively involved in teaching all aspects of medical lens management and regularly lectures at national and international conferences. Previous work includes numerous other hospital extended roles and community practice.
Erik González Ruiz is an Optometrist who graduated from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) in 2023 and currently works as an advisor and trainer in specialty contact lens fitting at Lumilent Laboratories. In 2022, he participated in an exchange program at the University of Buenos Aires (UBA), specializing in Optics and Contact Lenses, and completed his social service at the Conde de Valenciana Ophthalmology Institute, one of Mexico's top hospitals, where he honed his skills in optometric care and contact lens fitting. Erik has dedicated his career to the fitting of specialty contact lenses, including soft, cosmetic, hybrid, gas permeable, sclerals, orthokeratology, and Rose K2 lenses, and is passionate about advancing the field through his expertise and training.
Dr. Izabela Godinho is a medical doctor in Brazil, specializing in contact lenses and corneal care. She is the Coordinator of the Cléber Godinho Contact Lens Institute and the Cléber Godinho Contact Lens Course, where she plays a key role in advancing education and expertise in the field. Additionally, Dr. Godinho serves as a corneal and contact lens preceptor at Evangelical Hospital in Belo Horizonte and at the Sorocaba Eye Bank Corneal Unit.
Dr. Sakshi Vasiu graduated from SUNY College of Optometry and is currently pursuing an OcD/CL residency at Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary. She is passionate about specialty contact lenses and corneal disease.
Dr. Jiani Lin grew up in Vancouver, Canada and obtained her BSc from the University of British Columbia. She then graduated from the Illinois College of Optometry and is currently an Ocular Disease/Contact Lens Resident at Mass Eye and Ear in Boston. She sees patients with complex corneal diseases including keratoconus, graft vs. host disease, and corneal transplants. Jiani has an interest in fitting specialty contact lenses for irregular corneas.
